Hangang River Banpo Bridge Rainbow Fountain 반포대교 달빛무지개분수

12:32:00 AM

Situated at Gangnam-gu, just beside Hangang River, lies in the middle of the busy city of Seoul - The Rainbow Fountain Banpo Bridge. This bridge is also a very famous place for film shooting. Some of the scenes in korean drama like "Daddy's Girl", "Iris", and "It's Okay" are also filmed here.  I called it the most romantic place to hang out during the night in Seoul! I have went there a couple of times and I still love it very much. Tourist can sit on both sides of the Bridge to enjoy the magnificent night view in the heart of Seoul.

Seoul Banpo Fountain Bridge is recorded in Guinness World Record for Longest Bridge Fountain in the world. The bridge has 38 water pumps and 380 nozzles on either side, which draw 190 tons of water per minute from the river 20 meters below the deck, and shoots as far as 43 meters horizontally. "Running along the length of the bridge are 380 nozzles that send 54 tonnes (60 tons) of water cascading 43 m (140 ft) horizontally and 20 m (65 ft) down into the river every minute. In the evening, LED lights illuminate the water spray, which “dances” in time to 100 different pieces of music." (Guinness World Record) See here for more information.

This fountain bridge only operates at night. Below are the operating hours for the Fountain Bridge.

Operating Hours
April-October (Duration: 15min)
* Weekdays: 12:00, 20:00, 21:00
* Weekends: 12:00, 17:00, 19:30 (July & August only), 20:00, 20:30, 21:00, 21:30

How to get there:
There are 2 ways to get there.

1) Dongjak Station (Seoul subway Line 4, exit 1 or 2). Walk around 20~30 minutes.

2) Express Bus Terminal Station (Seoul subway Line 3, 7, 9, exit 8.1). Go straight for 250m, turn right at Express Bus Terminal 4-way intersection. Continue going straight for 400m and cross the street at the crosspark. You will see an underground passage. Walk into the underground passage and take the first exit. (Time: Around 20 minutes~30 minutes)   <<< RECOMMENDED

Note: If you go from Dongjak Station, you will be able to see the bridge from this view.

Banpo Fountain Bridge View - Go from Dongjak Station (Pic source from internet)

However, if you go from Express Bus Terminal Station, the Bridge view would be like this!
Best shot I got with my camera! View of Bridge from Express Bus Terminal.

I recommend you to go from this route because
1) This side of the relaxing area is bigger than the other side. You can get a better view from this side of the bridge. In Dongjak Station, there are some bushes around and if so happen there are many people there that night, you hardly get a better spot for photo shooting.
2) Go earlier and you can shop around Express Bus Terminal Subway station before heading to te bridge.

And I also recommend you to go on weekdays because there are lesser people.

Many photographers like to come here and take pictures too during the bridge's operating hours. Besides that, this is also a good spot for couple to date and friends to chit-chat. Some koreans prefer to take an evening walk here while some youngsters prefer to ride a bicycle nearby the river. Most of the time, there were also people selling fried chicken here. If you are not in a tight budget, I highly recommend you to buy a box of fried chicken and slowly enjoy the view. Price should be around 12000 won (appx. RM36) to 18000 won (RM54) for a box of whole chicken. You could enjoy the famous and delicious fried chicken while relaxing by the river!

In summer, the days are long and the nights are short. Therefore, this pic is taken before it's sunset. It's about 8pm that time!

Before sunset =D We waited until the sun goes down and enjoy the next show.

Still evening...

My sister, from the back...

Here are more pics which I got from the Internet:

No doubt! It's actually as beautiful as what you have seen here! However, only good cameras like DSLR with a camera stand, can shoot great photos like this. Think no more, if you are planning to Korea, squeeze this into your itinerary!

IMPORTANT:
Remember to reach the subway station like 40 minutes earlier than the time of the show. For example, if you wanna watch for the 9pm show, please reach the subway station at before 8.15pm. You have to walk around 20 to 30 minutes from the subway station to the bridge. You wouldn't want to missed this chance, won't you?
